Alisa Harvey of Manassas, VA recently joined the team after blowing by Riadha runners at a training session in Fairfax, VA. Together with Ashley Childs, she represented the team at the 2009 USA Masters Indoor Championship. Alisa, who was named USA Track & Field's 2007 Masters Athlete of the Year, is also the World Record Holder of the masters indoor mile. Additional accomplishments include a 1500m Gold and 800m Silver Medal at the 1991 Pan Am Games, two time finalist at the IAAF World Indoor Championships, Bronze Medalist at the 6th IAAF World Cup in Athletics, finalist at the 9th IAAF Mobile Grand Prix Final,...just too many to list for this former Tennessee Vol who keeps charging on. Alisa will be competing in the Invitational 800m race at the upcoming Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA.
Kristin Andersonof Springfield, MO and soon relocating to the Greater Washington DC Area, will be making her first appearance for Riadha in the Invitational 5000m race at the Mt. SAC Relays. In addition to multiple NCAA Div II Championship titles, Kristin took home the Gold for Team USA in the steeplechase at the 2007 NACAC Championships, was runner up at the 2006 USA Outdoor T&F Championships and was ranked 3rd (steeplechase) in the USA by T&F News in 2006. Together with Delilah DiCrescenzo, Irene Kimaiyo and Shauneen Garrahan, this Ohio born steepler and former Central Missouri State Mule will add depth to what is turning out to be the Riadha steeplechase hive.
Irene Kimaiyo and Serena Burla led Riadha to solid early season performances at this years edition of the Mt. SAC Relays. Irene placed 2nd in a competitive steeplechase field which featured several 2008 olympians. The overcrowded event saw Shauneen Garrahan take a very hard fall only two laps into the race
after which she got up and finished in a respectable 10:24.
Day two had several solid performances, highlited by Serena's strong 5k (2nd fastest time ever and 3 seconds off her pr) only 3 months after returning to running and an 8 second PR by Kristin Anderson, also in the 5k. Only two weeks after returnng from the World Cross Country Championships, Delilah had to quickly shift gears and shock her system in the 1500m where she posted her second fastest time/fractions of a second off her pr.
Day 3 saw Alisa Harvey's return to the Mt. SAC Relays after 16 years where she demonstrated that her wheels are still to be reckoned with.
Liza, who seems accustomed to racing in adverse conditions, fought her way to a 2nd place finish and avoided a trip to the ER at the Kingston Classic 10k in Kingston, NY. The 1:00pm race saw many runners succumb to what mother nature had to offer.
