LIZA AND JACOB LEAD RIADHA ROAD ACTION ON THANKSGIVING DAY
November 27, 2008
Liza was first to go off early in the morning on Thanksgiving Day in Branford, CT. Avoiding all direct communication with the coach two days leading up to the race (knowing very well that she would be advised not to race due to illness), she managed to cough and spit her way through the streets of Branford to a 2nd place finish among the women, knocking 17 seconds her time from 2007 - only Liza!
Next was the Manchester Road Race in Manchester, CT where Dennis the Menace and Delilah were mixing it up. Planning to go out conservatively and cruise through the race in half-miler style, Dennis had to change his plans very quickly after spotting Delilah charging way ahead...the rest is history. Dennis ran much quicker than planned and Delilah placed a solid 7th (3rd American) in a deep elite women's field.
While Liza, Delilah and Dennis were inhaling their Thanksgiving meals on the east coast, Irene and Jacob were trying to calm their butterflies down with the aid of some random porta johns at the Synaptics Elite 5k in San Jose, CA. In a very close race, Irene finished the Women' Elite 5k with a strong 6th place in 16:14 (about 14 seconds behind the winner). Jacob capped the day off with an impressive 13:37 road 5k for 2nd place.
